We have a lot on our shoulders. When school is out but we still need to get work done, we need to have that unicorn space – a place where the kids can play while you plug in and get to your emails, meetings, or other to-dos. Here is a list of great places where you can connect to wi-fi or not and let the kids run wild. Bonus if they have a food option and you can cross lunch of your list to!

Top 5 work and play spaces:
  • 1. Tot Box Play Cafe: This one is great if you have little ones at home with you or part time daycare. Tot Box is new to the area (opened late 2023) and you know we love to support local businesses! Walk in, grab your coffee drink, hook up to the internet, and watch the little one romp around in their enclosed play area. They also have a space for birthday parties! They do require a reservation so book ahead when you know you have work to do.
  • 2. Family Play Barn (Georgetown): If Tot Box is full or you want to explore Georgetown, Family Play Barn is just the spot. Same concept a little further north. This one also requires a reservation so be sure to plan!
  • 3. Hat Creek: Big points for this one because it is outside AND you can get snacks and meals while you are there. I love a one stop shop! There are a few options depending on what part of town you are in but we frequent the location on Palm Valley Rd or in Georgetown. Be warned: this place gets CROWDED on a nice day!
  • 4. Inflatable Wonderland: Although not in Round Rock, Inflatable World is just across town at the Lakeline Mall. This one is good for the bigger kids who need to jump their energy out. A giant room full of bounce houses is the kids ultimate dream. They also serve food and snacks in case you want to work through lunch!
  • 5. Chuck E. Cheese: Another place that serves food! Chuck E Cheese has changed A LOT since I was a kids and I can’t lie– I’m impressed. I love that kids need to enter and leave with an adult. They have different play options and a decent menu too! This is a great option on a hot summer day or when the weather is threatening rain.
  • 6. Round Rock Public Library: This is a personal favorite. It is free, full of books, and plenty of library sponsored activities and events. And you could even log onto free wi-fi computers if yours runs out of battery! By far my favorite place to work, play, read, and enjoy our city resources.

What places would you add to this list? I am always looking for new places to work and let the kids play!
